**To move instances into standby mode**

This example puts the specified instance into standby mode. This is useful for updating or troubleshooting an instance that is currently in service. ::

    aws autoscaling enter-standby \

        --auto-scaling-group-name my-asg \
        --should-decrement-desired-capacity
